Performance art for the 0-5s
Sunday 1 July 2018, 11am
Call for Proposals: Deadline April 22nd
Do you want to make truly boundary-smashing art? Then try making performance art for toddlers! All the rules go out the window when you’re aiming to make creative, engaging, sensory-stimulating work for an extraordinary audience with no preconceptions. We’re seeking artists from any performance discipline – theatre, clown, live art, dance, or anything else you can think of – who are interested in making work for our next early years show, both those with experience in the field and those who want to explore it.
To apply, you just need an idea. It can be something you’ve performed before, something you’ve already developed for the early years audience, or the seed of idea that you want to make happen. If you don’t have experience working with early years, that’s OK: our team are available for consultation to help you develop the piece.
ANATOMY is especially welcoming of artists who face marginalisation, including D/deaf and/or disabled people, LGBTI+ people, women, people of colour, working class people, and people from any related background or identity. We have a full accessibility policy to support this work. If you feel you are often excluded from performance opportunities, we would like to include you and hear how we can do that better. We have a budget to help meet individual access needs.
Selected acts will receive:
– A £100 fee per performer for the performance, plus travel expenses
– Accommodation if needed with Anatomy family and friends
– Rehearsal space in Summerhall as required
– Full technical support for the show
– Photo and film documentation of the performance
For more on what we’ve done, see our past events.
To apply, please download an application form and a voluntary diversity monitoring form and return, completed, to email@example.com by 11.59pm on April 22nd. We welcome proposals in alternative formats if this is better for you; please contact us for details.
